From Dakar to Monrovia: the journey
January 2013: CSO Outreach with the 3rd High Level Panel meeting in Monrovia
40 civil society representatives will meet with the High Level Panel in Monrovia on 30 January 2013. There will be a plenary followed by five roundtable discussions. ACORD is leading the round table focusing on farmers, workers and small businesses. Other groups are on women & gender, disabled&aged, children and youth.

December 2012: Ask Africa Now website goes live
The African CSO secretariat official website www.askafricanow.org hosts the post 2015 Africa civil society organisations questionnaire, as well as news, analysis, key reference documents and interactive discussions via the Ask Africa Now twitter pages.
November 2012: Namhla Mniki-Mangaliso appointed Head of Africa CSO Secretariat
ACORD appoints Namhla Mniki-Mangaliso of African Monitor to head the African CSO Secretariat in President Sirleaf's office. This follows a rigorous selection process and deliberations with partner organisations. In view of her strong technical background, current leadership amongst African CSOs, and her proven experience with similar processes requiring strong participatory and inclusive leadership, she is found to be the ideal person for the role.
October 2012: the Monrovia African CSO Forum
The 23-25 October forum culminated in a Communiqué that asserted priority actions needed prior to 2015 with respect to completing the MDGs, new goals for the Post 2015 framework and actions required by national governments, regional bodies, the Secretary General's HLP on Post 2015 and the United Nations. The Forum saw the President accepting the idea of an African CSO-led Secretariat to be based in her office in Liberia. ACORD is mandated to facilitate the setting up of the Secretariat and to recruit its Head.
August 2012: the African CSO Group press release
Congratulating the African nominees to the High Level Panel - Betty Maina (Chief Executive of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers) and Graca Machel (Current Member of The Elders), Fulbert Gero Amoussouga (Head of the Economic Analysis Unit of the President of the Republic of Benin and the Current Chair of the African Union) and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Hon. July 2012: African CSO Addis Ababa Forum
This forum was organised at the sides of the African Union meeting and engaged Amina Mohamed who had just been appointed UN Special Adviser to the Secretary General on post 2015 development planning.
July 2012: Monrovia Presidential visit
Following the appointment of Her Excellency President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as one of the co-chairs of the High Level Panel (HLP) of Eminent Persons on the Post 2015, a delegation of African CSOs led by ACORD visited the President in her office to congratulate her on her appointment, to request her for an African wide CSO forum to be held in Monrovia and to offer her a CSO Secretariat to be located within her office.
May 2012: Dakar forum and preparation for Rio+20
Culminated in the Dakar Declaration which emphasized the adequate incorporation and strengthening of citizens' voices in the process towards the Post 2015 global framework.
